On-line Placement Test - General Information
What is the purpose of the test?
The sole purpose of this Placement Test is to assess accurately
your linguistic skills in French.
Why is the test so important?
It is the only way to place you in an FSL course that maximizes
your chances of really improving your competence in French. This
course should be neither too difficult (you don't want to feel overwhelmed
by the difficulty or overburdened by the workload in the course)
nor too easy for you (you don't want to feel that you are not learning
much and that you are not making any progress).
What does the Placement Test consist of ?
The Placement Test consists of two major parts:
A) the on-line test
B) the phone interview
How long do I have to complete the test?
You have forty (40) minutes to complete the test.
Note: Your completion time is measured from when you click Begin
test to when you click Finish.
What will I need to do the test?
You will need speakers or headphones.
What if I run into problems?
If you encounter any problem during the test, simply close and restart.
What if I can't answer all the questions?
You are not expected to be able to answer all the questions. In
order for your placement to be correct, you should answer all the
questions to the best of your ability. When you have no idea, refrain
from merely guessing. Just leave it and go on to the next question.
Try to do as much as you can, as well as you can without consulting
a textbook or reference grammar. Remember that an accurate result
is in your own best interest!
When will I receive my results?
You will receive your results at the end of the phone interview.
The interviewer will then inform you of the level most appropriate
to your needs.
How do I make arrangements for the interview?
At the end of this test, you will be asked to choose a time and
date for your phone interview.
If I need to ask questions in English during the interview,
will the interviewer understand?
Yes. All our interviewers speak English.
